Case Study – On-board Steel Insert Repair (Ballast Tank)

On-board steel insert repair carried out inside a ballast water tank of a general cargo vessel while at anchorage.
The scope included cutting, preparation and welding of a 15 mm thick steel plate, executed under confined space conditions and in compliance with marine safety procedures.
The full repair was completed within three days from commencement, ensuring structural integrity and vessel readiness without the need for dry-docking.
